BCKV - 2017 Valediction & June Month Kala Poshakam

The Mylapore Trio , Sugathan and members conducted the Valediction of 15th Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizha and Monthly Kala Poshakam programme on Saturday 24th June 2017 at Vivekananda Hall (AC) , P.S. Hr. Sec. School premises, Mylapore.

Tmt. Ravibala, M.Sc., M.Ed., M.A., M.Phil – Headmistress – M.F.S.D. Hr. Sec. School, Sowcarpet,Chennai was the Chief Guest. She is a born Mylaporean, an alumnus of Lady Sivaswami Aiyar Girls Hr. Sec. School and an old student of Sumukhi Amma. She belongs to the faculty of science and a specialist in Chemistry. She fits to a rare genre of teachers, impregnated with values and principles of life. Ravibala was overwhelmed to be a part of the function and shared her pride of being a Mylaporean and its age-old culture. She showered encomiums on the Trio and Sugathan for spending their lives and resources in spreading spiritual and cultural values amongst the next generation without expecting anything in return and commended their commitment towards their foster parents and grandmother as a mark of gratitude. The Trio and Sugathan honoured her appropriately with a spiritual touch and showered their love and regards. She distributed 1st,2n,3rd, consolation & participation prizes to children who had participated in the Chithirai competitions.

As a part of the monthly Kalaposhakam programme, Smt. Sampoornam and Smt. Usha Krishnamurthy delivered a talk on “Nalladhoru Kudumbam” to the children and parents gathered in large numbers, which the topic given for this year Chithirai competitions. Smt. Sampoornam a Sexagenarian is a family friend for more than 2 decades and of course her origin is also from Mylapore. She is a Retd. Principal – Marya Nivas Matriculation, Chennai. She outlined the importance of joint family and the importance of the parents and their love and care towards their wards. Smt. Usha Krishnamurthi – Retd. Madras Telephones, a Septuagenarian and family friend for more than a decade, who is also soaked in Mylapore culture, brought out the importance of family relationships with the near and dear and the kith and kin. Through an anecdote she narrated the significance of a family bonding in a joint family system. Both the guests applauded The Mylapore Trio and Sugathan in disseminating Indian Culture with utmost interest and sincerity with no commercial aspect. They also admired them for their unity and like-mindedness in this endeavor. Smt. Prema Krishnamurthy also graced the occasion and spoke a few words on the model role played by the Trios in upholding the cultural ethos among the children. The guests also distributed prizes to children who competed in various competitions in Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizha - 2017.

Around 130 children from Pre-Kg to Undergraduate level, who had participated in nearly 20 competitions categorized under Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Academic Arts - decked up in gorgeous traditional attire lined up and received their prizes and certificates. The specialty of our Foundation is all the children both the prizewinners and the non-prize winners are appropriately recognized on stage without any discrimination what so ever. There were around 300 and odd audience including the children and parents. It was a memorable evening of 4 hours duration, which was a red-letter day for many children and their parents to see their ward receiving cups, medals and certificates-an honour on stage, and for us it was a great children’s festival.
