Kindly read the Rules & Regulations of the Event furnished below
Thoroughly & completely and abide by the same.
Those who do not adhere to the Norms of the Event will not be entertained.

*TRADITIONAL ATTIRE (Dress Code of the Foundation mentioned below) is compulsory for all Participants, Parents, Children & *Rasikas during Registration, Competitions and Prize Distribution Function.

*TRADITIONAL ATTIRE (Dress Code of the Foundation)

(Participants, Parents, Children & *Rasikas - Guests / Invitees / Relatives / Friends / Public)
Boys: Only Kurtha, Pyjama (No Fancy Pants, Jeans, Cargos, T. Shirt, Dhoti, Shirt)
Girls: Upto 8th Std. – Paavaadai, Chokka. From 9th Std. – Paavaadai, Dhaavani, Saree.
Men: – Kurtha, Pyjama, Dhoti, Pant, Shirt (No Fancy Jeans, Cargos, T. Shirt)
Women: – Only in Saree. (No Sleeveless Chokka / Blouse for Girls & Women)
Common for all Girls - Hair Style: Single Plait (No lose hair). No Fancy Bindhis.
Pottu – Only in Red Colour / Min. Size: 8mm Round or Thilakam.

Registrations from 3rd March to 15th April, 2018. (No Online Registrations)
Registrations only on Saturdays, Sundays & Public Holidays.
Time: 10.00am to 12.00noon & 4.00pm to 6.00pm.
Walk-in during the above mentioned Days & Timings, adhering to the Foundation Dress Code.

·         First time Participant – Child must come in person for the Registration along with the Parent, adhering to the Foundation Dress Code.
·         Existing Participant – Parent or Representative may alone come in person for the Registration, adhering to the Foundation Dress Code.

A PARTICIPANT MUST TAKE PART IN MINIMUM OF 2 COMPETITIONS (COMPULSORY) excluding Participation Segment.

Once Registered for a Competition, it will not be changed / altered / cancelled.

A Registration Fee of Rs. 100/- is charged for each Competition & Participatory Segment.
Plus Rs. 100/- towards 2 Photos (Solo & Group) - Mandatory for each Participant, taken by the Foundation during Prize Distribution Function.
Photograph will be posted on Our Blog / Facebook. Hard Copy will not be given.
Photography / Videography – Camera / Handycam by the Parents & Rasikas are strictly prohibited inside the Auditorium, during Competitions & Prize Distribution.

Participant must produce the Hall Ticket at the time of Competitions / Participatory Segment & Prize Distribution.
If the Participant fails to produce His/Her Hall Ticket during the Competitions / Participatory Segment & Prize Distribution, a Penalty of Rs. 50/- would be charged & a Duplicate Copy will be issued.

Competition Dates: 19th to 30th April, 2018. (Subject to change due to unavoidable circumstances)

Kids Section: – Pre.KG, LKG.

All Levels:-
Sub. Junior: – Sec. A – UKG, I Std. & Sec. B – II, III Std.
Junior: – Sec. A – IV, V Std. & Sec. B – VI, VII Std.
Senior: – Sec. A – VIII, IX, X Std. & Sec. B – XI to UG.

The nature of the Festival is of Two Categories – Competition & Participation. (in Tamizh)

Competitions

Kids Section – 9 Competitions.
*Competitions cannot be witnessed by the Parents & *Rasikas

Category 1 – Performing Arts:-
Paapaa Bharatham – Max. 3mins. (1Tamizh Song only) 
Paavaadai Chokka / Bharatanatyam Costume, Jewellery, Make-up mandatory.
Participant must bring only 1 Song in 1 Audio CD / Pen drive for the performance.
Multiple Tracks CD will not be entertained. Mobile / Video DVD / VCD not allowed.
Audio system will be provided.
Bhakthi Paadal – Max. 3mins. (1 Tamizh Song of your choice / Must Sing).
Bharatiyar Paadal – Max. 3mins. (1 Song of your choice / Must Sing).

Category 2 – Fine Arts:-
Poo Kolam – Max. 30mins. Use Chalk piece for outline & fill with Real Flowers, Leaves.
(Size 1ft X 1ft Box) Bring all materials. No Props
Kalimann Sirpam (Clay Modeling) – Max. 30mins. Use only China Clay – All Colours.
Bring all materials. No pre-fabricated materials allowed.
Oviyam – Max. 30mins. (Only Colouring) Bring Colour Pencils / Crayons to fill Colours
in an Outline Drawing given by us.

Category 3 – Academic Arts:-
Paappaa Paattu (Tamizh Rhymes) – Max. 3mins. No Props.
Kadhaiyum Karuthum (Tamizh) – Max. 3mins. Topic given below. No Props.
Maaruvedam (Fancy Dress) (Tamizh) – Max. 2mins. Topic given below. Props allowed, No Backdrops.

All Levels – 21 Competitions.
*Competitions cannot be witnessed by the Parents & *Rasikas

Category 1 – Performing Arts:-
Bharatanatyam – Max. 3mins. (Only Tamizh Song)
No Alarippu, Jatiswaram & Varnam.
Bharatanatyam Costume, Jewellery, Salangai and Make-up mandatory.
Naattupura Nadanam – Max. 3mins. (Only Traditional Tamizh Folk Dances & Songs)
Kurathi, Kummi, Karagam, Kaavadi, Paambhu, Mayil… 
Authentic Costume, Jewelry and Make-up mandatory according to the Dance form.
For both Dance Competitions:-
Participant must bring only 1 Song in 1 Audio CD / Pen drive for the performance.
Multiple Tracks CD will not be entertained. Mobile / Video DVD / VCD not allowed.
Audio system will be provided.
Keerthanai – Max. 3mins. Only Tamizh Keerthanai / Any Composer. (Only 1 song of your choice).
Naattupura Paadal – Max. 3mins. (Kuravanji, Kummi, Ammanai, Kaavadi Chinndu, Thaalaattu…)
(Only 1 Traditional Tamizh Folk Song of your choice)
Bhakthi Paadal – Max. 3mins. (1 Tamizh Song of your choice)
Bharatiyar Paadal – Max. 3mins. (1 Song of your choice)
Thevaaram – Max. 3mins. (1 Song of your choice)
Thirupugazh – Max. 3mins. (1 Song of your choice)
Participants must bring their own Sruti Box with Batteries for all Vocal Music Competitions. 
No Mobile Phones / iPads for playing Sruti.
Vaadhya Isai – Max. 3mins. (Any Instrument) Bhakthi Paadal – 1 Tamizh Song of your choice)
No Film Song. Must not use Default Programmed Beats while playing on Keyboard.
Bring Keyboard with Batteries.

Category 2 – Fine Arts:-
Poo Kolam(Flower Kolam) Max. 1Hr. Must arrange a Poo Kolam with a Prop. (Size 2ft X 2ft Box)
Use Chalk piece for outline & fill with Real Flowers, Leaves. Bring all materials.
Vanna Kolam(Rangoli) Max. 1Hr. Use Chalk-piece for outline & fill with Colour Powders.
(Size 2ft X 2ft Box) Bring all materials. No Props.
Kalimann Sirpam (Clay Modeling) – Max. 45mins. Use only China Clay. Bring all materials. Minimum 1 item must be made within the given time. No pre-fabricated materials allowed.
Kaagidha Kalai (Paper Craft) – Max. 45mins. Use Colour Papers / Charts. Bring all materials.
Minimum 1 item must be made within the given time. No pre-fabricated materials allowed.
Oviyam(Painting) Max. 1Hr. Topic given below. Chart alone will be provided by us. 
(Chart Size A4 = 21 x 29.7cm). Bring all other Materials.
Can use Colour Pencils / Crayons / Water / Poster Colours / Oil Pastel / Sketch Pens. 
Kaivinai Porul(Craft Work) Max. 1Hr. Topic given below. Bring all materials. Minimum 1 item must
be made within the given time. No pre-fabricated materials allowed.

Category 3 – Academic Arts:-
Kaiyezhuthu Potti (Tamizh) – Max. 30mins. Content & Ruled Paper will be provided.
Sub. Junior – Sec.A – 4 line Paper. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil.
Sub. Junior – Sec.B / Junior / Senior – Pen & Paper. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
Katturai Potti (Tamizh) – Max. 1Hr. Topic given below. Min. 250 words. Ruled Paper alone will be provided. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
Petchu Potti (Tamizh) – Max. 3mins. Topic given below. No Props.
Sol Vilayaatu (Tamizh) – Max. 15mins. Topic given below. Content & Paper will be provided. 
Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
10 Fill in the Blanks & 5 Match the Following to be completed & the early bird with Maximum correct answers Wins.
Kadhaiyum Karuthum (Tamizh) – Max. 3mins. Topic given below. No Props.
Maaruvedam (Fancy Dress) (Tamizh) – Max. 2mins. Topic given below. Props allowed, No Backdrops.

Common Theme:– “Ainthinai” “ஐந்திணை” for the Competitions – Oviyam, Kaivinai Porul, Katturai Potti, Petchu Potti, Sol Vilayaatu, Kadhaiyum Karuthum, Maaruvedam.

Participatory Segment
Can be witnessed by the Parents & *Rasikas
 
Tamizh Maalai – Solo - Max. 3mins. / Group - Max. 5mins. (Kids / All Levels - An exposure to Talk / Recite / Sing / Enact in Tamizh). 

Instructions

Competitions cannot be witnessed by the Parents & Rasikas. (Except Maaruvedam & Tamizh Maalai).
Reporting Time is 30mins. before each session and must be strictly adhered to. Participants coming Late even after the given grace time of 30mins., from the commencement of the session, will not be eligible for the 1st  / 2nd / 3rd Level Prizes.
Participants must stay till the end of each session until the Results are announced & the Results will not be informed over phone.
Judge's decision is final and irrevocable; shall not be challenged in any forum.

“Rolling Trophy” & “Kala Poshakam”
Group Performance for Dance / Music Institution

A Gold-Coated Rolling Trophy* “PORTTRAMARAI” in the name of “Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan”, is awarded to Any Institution with above 100 Registrations combined in all 3 Categories viz. Performing Arts / Fine Arts / Academic Arts.

Dance / Music Institution which bags the “Rolling Trophy” shall also be given an opportunity for Group Performance in any one of Our Programmes or Our Monthly Concert “Kala Poshakam” (A Free Platform).

The Winners of Dance – both in Bharatanatyam & Semi Classical Dance and Music – both in Keerthanai & Bhajan Competitions in “Margazhi Bala Utsavam”- 2018 & The Winners of Dance – both in Bharatanatyam & Naattupura Nadanam and Music – both in Keerthanai & Naattupura Paadal Competitions in “Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizha”- 2018 shall only be given an opportunity for Solo Performance in Our Monthly Concert “Kala Poshakam” (A Free Platform to showcase your Talent).

2) To Compete for “TITLE & AWARD”:- The Winners of Dance & Music Competitions of “Margazhi Bala Utsavam” & “Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizha” (for 2 consecutive years) & who have showcased Solo Performance in “Kala Poshakam”, “Bala Vidhwan Bavani” & “Mottamaadi Nilaa Cutchery” Programmes are alone eligible to Compete for a “Title & Award”.

The Children who participate in the 16th Year “Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizha”- 2018
are alone eligible to receive their Participation Certificate / Medals / Prizes.
During the Prize Distribution, only the Participant must come in person to receive it on Stage.
Parents / Representatives cannot receive it.
